39863315Honestly, I’m interested in The Tesla Legacy by K. K. Pérez simply on account of the title referencing Nicola Tesla, someone I’ve always loved and been rather fascinated by. How could I not, then want to read this book? Well, I’m adding it to my TBR somewhat tentatively, since I’m not sure how well the concept is going to turn out. You see, the synopsis is rather paltry in my opinion. Naturally, though, I want to give this book a chance. Featuring a young girl called Lucy who not only is a scientist, but also soon finds out that she has electrical powers, this book is basically somewhat of an alternate universe in which people like Lucy and Nicola Tesla have a genetic mutation that has allowed them to manipulated electricity. Sounds cool, right? Add in two rival alchemical groups and you have a recipe for an action and danger filled novel that just sounds thoroughly exciting.

I’m looking forward to giving this book a shot and seeing how the subject matter is handled. I really hope that this book follows a more scientific path than a magical path, which is where my big worry hang up is. The book has only been read by a few people and has a mix of good and bad reviews and I can’t wait to find out which side of the line mine ends up on.

THE TESLA LEGACY follows a precocious young scientist named Lucy Phelps whose fateful encounter in the Tesla Suite of the New Yorker Hotel unlocks her dormant electrical powers. As Lucy struggles to understand her new abilities through scientific experimentation, she is thrust into a centuries old battle between rival alchemical societies.
One side wants her help and the other wants her dead, but both believe she is the next step in human evolution. Unfortunately, carriers of the genetic mutation—including Nikola Tesla—have a greatly reduced life expectancy. Even if Lucy can outrun her enemies, she can’t outrun herself.

Thoughts? Feelings? Do you think you might end up adding The Tesla Legacy to your TBR or is it a book that you’ll pass on? Let me know what you think in the comments and happy reading, everyone!
