If you’re looking for short, to the point reviews about some really fun romance novels you’ll find a treasure trove of them from Demi @Demi-Reads. She seems to have mastered the quick, enticing review easily catching your attention just long enough to make you really give a book a second glance. I’ll admit, I had a hard time picking a review to feature here because there were so many that embodied this sort of feedback. Equally nice about Demi’s reviews is the fact that she not only includes the books synopsis, but also information about the author.
Ultimately, I found myself stumbling upon a review for Fragments of Ash by Katy Regerny that immediately caught my attention on account of it being a Cinderella retelling. While I may be quite choosy about which romance novels I’ll read, I always love a good Cinderella retelling.
I’ve not read this one, so I cant say much about the book itself. It does, admittedly, seem rather dark and potentially triggerng as a result of the villain and his clearly disgusting desires, but I am curious to see how it was handled. I’d say, quite frankly, this definitely seems like a book for adults only (and it is noted in the post and I believe with the book that those younger than 18 should not be reading it due to certain themes, which I appreciated). It’s always best to be aware of these things, after all.
I have to say, I’m excited about the references. And what appears to be diversity of sexualities.
“I found hilarious that her godfather calls his boyfriend PC as in Prince Charming 😛 The Cinderella references are spot on; Jack’s aka PC both surnames mean mouse and her godfather’s name is Gus!”
So, if romance is your thing, definitely drop by her site and give her writings a read!
As always, happy reading!
