I wanted to start this off with a cover for a book that I’ve already read rather than pulling one out of my Goodreads shelf at random. Often times authors don’t really get a lot of say in the covers on their books, so it’s a lucky thing when a cover is really well liked. I can’t say much for anyone else when it comes to the cover of Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev, but I thought it looked beautiful.

The fairies are perhaps the piece of this cover that I love the most, and they sort of draw your eyes in. Whoever made this cover did a brilliant job of creating a focus point in the girl by circling the fairies around her head. There’s a sort of enticement to the way the curtain is drawn back, lighting up her face and darkening around the areas in which we are not getting a peak at the magic that is surely happening on stage.

The only thing about this cover that I’m not overly fond of is the text placement and font. I think a much better one could’ve been chosen for the book’s title and the large portion of text at the bottom is incredibly distracting. All in all, I really liked this cover at the end of the day.

Thoughts?

  1. I haven’t read this book but, I have to agree somewhat with you on the cover. It’s beautiful, I don’t mind the text, it’s the faeries (which I thought were dragonflies) circling around her that I don’t particularly care for. Have a wonderful day.

    1. Haha, I can definitely see where they look like dragonflies. I might be partially influenced by loving the fairy characters in the book, but I thought it was cute. Hope your day is wonderful too!

  2. What a coincidence that I decide to check out your blog and your first post has one of my favorite covers! I shelved this book ages ago on my To-Read shelf on Goodreads and have yet to get to it. It’s a fantastic cover.
