Whether fortunate or unfortunate, I’m one of those sorts who reads more books than she probably should all at once. Fortunately I’m decent enough at keeping track of them, so there’s that. As for my currently reading shelf, it has 11 books on it at the moment (thus far updated since the number is a little bit higher). I’ve put a few of them on hiatus, though not for any reason in particular. Moving repeatedly in the last few years had a bit to do with it.

So, finally, just a few pieces of commentary about some of them.

Lost in the Reeflecting Pool by Diane PomerantzIMG_0468
—Gonna go ahead and put a huge trigger warning on this one. The book starts out shocking, which I think is why I kept reading in the first place. It’s a memoir, a chronicle of the abuse the author went through at the hands of her husband. While I haven’t yet gotten past the early days of their relationship (a precursor to what she would later deal with), I can definitely say I don’t think this is a book to pick up lightly.

—Only just started this, so I don’t have much to say at the moment, but the writing is good and that’s enough for me now.

Graduation Day by Joelle CharbonneauIMG_0470
—The third book in a series that was intriguing enough to keep reading. I think I’m probably done with it after this (though to tell you the truth I’m not sure if there are any more books past this one). It’s just gotten to be really dull for me which is unfortunate considering the plot doesn’t actually fit what I’d regularly call dull? I don’t know what it is, but I don’t care about the characters anymore. Hoping to at least finish it.

—I’m gonna finish this one this time. It’s a pretty good book, I just feel like it was meant more for me when I was in second grade or so. And that’s not to say I’d recommend this to any average second grader since I think it’s a bit more advanced than that, but I haven’t read books like this in a long time.

L.I.F.E. in the 23rd Century by Jason R. RichterIMG_0460
—This book is pretty good. To tell you the truth, I’m not sure why I haven’t finished it yet. I think I’ve just been distracted by things, but I’m really impressed with it. Especially since it’s the first book from the OnlineBookClub review team that I’ve actually found myself enjoying. Props!

—I can see why this book is so popular. It’s not bad. I’ll admit that I’ve noticed a fair number of tropes, but they’re easy to look past. Enjoying it thus far. I am listening to this one as an audiobook and I can’t currently say whether I’d like it better if I weren’t or not.

Have you read any of these books? What were your thoughts? No spoilers, please! Planning to read any of them? Let me know in the comments! ❤️
